Nov-Dec 2009 (Whistler,
Cancun, Dallas)
We had a pretty busy couple of vacations during Thanksgiving and
Christmas. For Thanksgiving we went to a Ski Resort in Whistler, Canada.
November 2009 was the snowiest month in the history of Whistler - so lot of snow
to play in. Whistler is where the winter Olympics is going to happen in a couple
of months. We went with our friends Vidhu, Raghu-Guna and new friends
Henry-Maria and their families. The kids had a lot of fun as always. I went
skiing with Sabree and Prithiv. I was horrible but Sabree and Prithiv were
very patient with me. If not for me they would have had a lot more fun - they
are so much better than me. They cover in 10 minutes the distance that I cover
in about 2 hours. Kylah also had fun sledding.
Next we went to Dallas and were joined by Sujatha's cousin Jaya,
her husband Mohan and their kids Abhi and Vikram and all of us went to Cancun,
Mexico for 6 days. Cancun is a fantastic place. We wish we had spent at a
minimum another 4 days there. There is so much to do that we ended up not
relaxing as much we would have liked. We stayed at 2 resorts - both of them were
very good in different ways. The highlights of the trip in the sequence we did
it:
 |
Parasailing: Floating up in the sky a thousand feet
over the ocean overlooking all of Cancun while being pulled by a speedboat.
|
 |
Dolphin experience: The kids did it. Amazing play
time with the dolphins. The climax is when two dolphins get under each feet
of a kid and push them really fast through the water and then lift them and
throw them off the water |
 |
XCaret park river float: Sujatha and Jaya floated
through a natural river that flows for miles including through totally dark
caves. The park also had huge Macau birds that Sabree loved to pet. |
 |
Sea Trek: This is probably the most amazing
experience of my life. This is a new technology and Cancun is one of the
first places in the world to have it. We are fitted with a helmet with
computer controlled oxygen and I along with the kids actually walked on the
Ocean floor among thousands of fish!! |
 |
XPlor Park: This is a new adventure park in Cancun.
Here we rode in a amphibious vehicle through caves and rivers, rafted with
hand paddles in crystal clear waters in the caves, sped very high over the
jungles like Tarzan hanging on to steel wires called 'zip lines' etc. The
most unique amusement park we have been to. |
